Why Taking Pictures Matters
My brother used to call me the family historian because I was always taking pictures. Ever since I can remember, I get in these moods where I go through old pictures and videos. Having lost several family members, including my dad, there’s a comfort in remembering the ordinary moments of life. Even the most mundane moments are ones I look back on with a sacred gratefulness. Every moment, from the bad to the good, has led me to where I am today. I am who I am because of every moment before me—I don’t want to forget these things. Photographing families means a whole lot more than just providing a digital file to print and put up on your wall—it’s capturing a moment in time that when you look at it, it transports you. It’s bringing the saying “a picture’s worth a thousand words” to life.
